Roecliffe
Business Centre was founded in 2004 from the conversion of
a group of disused farm buildings, formerly known as Waingates
Farm. The farm was built in the late C19th, made from locally
sourced materials (red brick from the Roecliffe Brick &
Tile Company and sandstone from Aldborough) and was originally
run as a mixed farm comprising arable, dairy, sheep and cattle.
Since the early '80's the farm buildings had become increasingly
redundant as the farming enterprise within the Roecliffe Estate
evolved to become entirely arable. Today the Estate manages
over 1000 acres of arable and woodland.
The old farm buildings at Waingates presented an ideal opportunity
to regenerate under-utilised assets and to provide greater
diversity within the Estate. The conversion to office space
will do much to bolster rural regeneration in the area and
will no doubt provide a welcome boost to the local rural economy.
The determination to preserve and restore the original buildings
is very much in keeping with the Estate's policy on conservation.
The Estate includes another 8 restored properties, which are
all let or service occupied, around 40 acres of woodland laid
down in 1989 plus substantial set-aside field margins along
the River Tut. Most of the Estate roads and footpaths are
linked and can be enjoyed as easily accessible Estate walks.
Much
of the conversion work has been carried out by Rural Solutions
Ltd, a company made famous by Roger Tempest and his flagship
redevelopment of Broughton Hall near Skipton, Yorkshire. The
quality of build and sympathetic use of original and reclaimed
materials here at Roecliffe is a credit to the skill of the
Rural Solutions team. The Business Centre has been specifically
designed to offer the best in contemporary office space and
yet retains all its former rustic charm as a traditional architectural
scheme.
With more companies and individuals coming to understand the
tangible benefits of rural life away from the pollution and
traffic congestion of the cities, Roecliffe Business Centre
answers a growing need for modern office space within the
rural landscape. Reduced travel times, a more pleasant working
environment and quality workspace has been proven to boost
efficiency, productivity and motivation within the workforce
and helps to attract the best staff. The beauty of Roecliffe
is that the peace and tranquillity on offer is only minutes
away from the main arterial road network for the region.
